Discord's “Verification Required” prompt appears after activity its systems associate with spam: joining several servers in a short time, messaging many people who aren't friends, posting faster than a person would, or using third-party clients. Separately, servers set to the Highest verification level won't let members chat or join voice without a verified phone. Verifying once also satisfies every lower level.

German number lengths and the trunk 0
German mobiles start with 015, 016 or 017. After +49 they're either 10 or 11 digits long, depending on the block the Bundesnetzagentur allocated, and both are valid. Don't shorten a long one or pad a short one; enter exactly what your dashboard shows.
The 0 is for dialling inside Germany only, so 01512 3456789 becomes +49 1512 3456789. German notation also uses slashes and brackets, like 0151/23456789; strip those before typing. Discord's advice for an “invalid phone number” error is to re-enter the number in international format with the right country code.

Step by step with a +49 number

Phone errors and what to do
- “This phone number is unable to be associated with this account”: another Discord account holds the number. Remove it there, or pick a different number.
- “Invalid phone number”: a leftover 0, a wrong length, or a number that isn't a mobile.
- Rate limit or “recently used”: Discord asks you to wait 24–48 hours before using that number again.

- A captcha that keeps failing is Discord's own security step; contact Discord Support at dis.gd/contact.
Limits to be aware of
- German landlines (Festnetz) won't work; Discord accepts mobile numbers only.
- One number can't be on two Discord accounts at once.
- SMS sign-in is only a backup on Discord, added after an authenticator app or passkey; Discord warns that SMS alone is vulnerable to SIM swaps.

My German number has 11 digits after +49. Will Discord accept it?
It's a valid length. German mobiles are 10 or 11 digits after +49 depending on the block. Enter it exactly as shown, without the leading 0.
Do I need German ID to get a +49 number for Discord?

Can I verify Discord with a German landline?
