A Philippine mobile number for ChatGPT and OpenAI checks

Filipinos, and the many overseas Filipino workers who keep a home number, run much of life through SMS codes and messaging apps. OpenAI may ask for a number too, but the Philippines isn't on either of its special lists: there's no phone-only ChatGPT sign-up there, and codes aren't delivered by WhatsApp.

That keeps things simple. The account starts with an email or a Google, Apple or Microsoft login, and when OpenAI needs a number, the code goes to it by SMS. The catch is the permanence: once a number is on an OpenAI account, it can't be swapped.

Here's when OpenAI asks, how to write a +63 number so the text arrives, and why a number you keep matters.

01

Why a Philippine number for OpenAI

Freelancers, remote assistants and outsourcing teams in the Philippines who rely on ChatGPT or OpenAI's developer tools for client work often want those accounts on a Philippine line. For OFWs in the Gulf, Europe or North America, a +63 number that works from a web dashboard keeps the account reachable without roaming.

Buying a local SIM from abroad isn't easy: the SIM Registration Act of 2022 requires every SIM to be registered with ID. An SMSCreation Philippine number doesn't use a SIM, so none of that applies, and you can keep it as long as the OpenAI account lasts.

02

When OpenAI asks a Filipino user for a number

OpenAI says phone verification isn't generally needed to create an account or use ChatGPT. For a +63 number, expect the prompt here.

  • Codex in the ChatGPT desktop app, which can ask for a phone even if you already use an authenticator app.
  • The first developer key on platform.openai.com.
  • Text-message MFA, if you pick it, sending a 6-digit code at sign-in.

Writing a +63 number the way OpenAI reads it

Philippine mobiles have eleven digits at home and start with 09, as in 0905 123 4567. Internationally the 0 is dropped, leaving ten digits after +63, starting with 9. OpenAI's country dropdown starts on the United States, so pick Philippines first, then type the ten digits.

The three digits after the 0 once pointed to a network, but mobile number portability means they no longer do, so don't worry if the prefix looks unfamiliar. What matters is the count and the missing 0.

How the code arrives

Even though Viber and Messenger dominate Filipino chat, OpenAI only delivers codes by SMS, or by WhatsApp in a list of countries that excludes the Philippines. It never sends them by email or phone call. With SMSCreation, the text appears in your web dashboard's SMS inbox.

The developer-key check happens once. Codex and text-message MFA can come back, each time to the same +63 number, since OpenAI keeps the original number on the account.

06

Step by step with a Philippine number

  1. 01Order a Philippine number and note the full digits in your SMSCreation dashboard.
  2. 02Open OpenAI's phone step in the desktop app or on platform.openai.com.
  3. 03Select Philippines and type the ten digits starting with 9.
  4. 04Request the code and copy it from your dashboard inbox.
  5. 05Enable MFA under Settings → Security and login.
  6. 06Leave auto-renew on so the number stays active.
07

Rules a Philippine number can't get around

  • The phone number on an OpenAI account can't be changed, for ChatGPT or the developer platform.
  • A number has three verifications in its lifetime, and after the first it can't create a new account.
  • “Too many signups with this number” points to earlier OpenAI use of the number, possibly by a previous holder; OpenAI says there's no workaround.
  • Landlines, VoIP numbers, Google Voice and premium numbers are refused.
  • “Unsupported country” refers to the place you access OpenAI from, not the +63 number.
08

Why it works with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram & Google

Apps check more than the digits: they look up the line type, the country format and whether the number can actually receive their code. Every SMSCreation number is a real mobile number in its country's official format — not a VoIP line — so it passes those checks the same way a SIM in your pocket does.

And we stand behind it with a 7-day replacement guarantee: if your number doesn't work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, Google or any app you need, we replace it free with a new number in the same country — or refund 100% if you prefer.

  • Non-VoIP, real mobile line type — line-type checks see an ordinary SIM number, not a VoIP line
  • Official country format with the right country code, prefix and digit count
  • Unlimited incoming SMS and calls — codes arrive by text or through the “call me” option
  • Private to you — never listed on public SMS sites, so it isn't flagged or rate-limited
  • Yours for as long as you want — re-verification and account recovery keep working

Price, renewal and the 7-day guarantee

A Philippine number costs from $1.80 a month on the yearly plan ($21.60 billed yearly), with unlimited incoming SMS and calls, 500 outgoing SMS and 1,000 outgoing minutes a month. It remains yours while it renews.

If the number doesn't work for OpenAI's verification, the 7-day replacement guarantee gives you a free replacement Philippine number within 7 days of activation, or a 100% refund. Unused numbers, with no call or SMS, can be refunded within 7 days, no questions asked.

Questions

Can I sign up to ChatGPT with only a Philippine number?

No. OpenAI's phone-only sign-up rolled out mostly in other countries, and it says no other regions are planned. Create the account with email or a Google, Apple or Microsoft login, then add the number when asked.

Will OpenAI send my code by Viber or WhatsApp?

No. OpenAI doesn't use Viber, and its WhatsApp verification list doesn't include the Philippines. A +63 number gets the code by SMS.

Should I type 09 or 9 on OpenAI's form?

Type 9. With Philippines (+63) selected, the number is ten digits starting with 9, like 905 123 4567. The 0 is only used for dialling inside the country.

Do I need to register a SIM to get a Philippine number for ChatGPT?

Not with SMSCreation. The SIM Registration Act applies to physical SIM cards. Our Philippine numbers are activated online with email-only sign-up and used in a web dashboard.

What if the +63 number on my ChatGPT account expires?

OpenAI won't let you replace it, so any future verification codes would still go to the old number. Keep it renewing, or verify only with a number you intend to keep.

Will the number work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram and Google?

Yes — guaranteed. It's a real mobile number with unlimited incoming SMS and calls, so verification codes arrive by SMS or voice call. If it doesn't work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, Google or any app you need, we replace it free within 7 days — or refund 100%.
