Italian number for WhatsApp: a real +39 mobile that stays yours

From a B&B host in Puglia to the pharmacy round the corner, Italians and Italian businesses run on WhatsApp. People searching for an Italian number for WhatsApp are often planning a stay, studying or working in Italy, selling to Italian customers, or keeping an Italian contact after moving away.

An Italian mobile used through SMSCreation needs no Italian ID or codice fiscale: you activate it online, and WhatsApp's six-digit code reaches your browser inbox.

01

Why an Italian number on WhatsApp

Italian hosts, tradespeople and small shops often answer a WhatsApp message faster than an email, and a +39 sender looks like a neighbour rather than a stranger. For anyone renting, studying or freelancing in Italy, that changes how quickly things get done.

Italian couriers, rail and ticketing services, marketplaces and banks also text codes to +39 mobiles, so the line behind your WhatsApp can collect those too. Public digital identity is a separate matter: SPID needs a valid Italian identity document and a codice fiscale or health card, not just a phone number.

  • A +39 contact for landlords, hosts and Italian clients
  • SMS codes from Italian services in the same inbox
  • An Italian WhatsApp that stays after you leave Italy

Entering an Italian number in WhatsApp

Italian mobiles start with 3 and are usually ten digits, for example 347 123 4567, which becomes +39 347 123 4567 abroad. There's no trunk 0 to remove, which surprises people used to the UK or France. In WhatsApp choose Italy, keep the +39 it shows and type 3471234567.

Italy's quirk runs the other way for landlines: they keep their 0 after +39, so a Rome office number is +39 06…. Don't copy that 0 into a mobile number, and don't let a foreign form strip a digit it mistakes for a trunk prefix.

What WhatsApp checks when you register a +39 number

WhatsApp's help center sets the same bar for Italy as for any country: the number has to receive a six-digit registration code by text, or by an automated call through “Call me” once the timer has expired. It lists VoIP, toll-free, premium-rate and universal access numbers as unsupported, and accepts landlines only on the WhatsApp Business app, so an Italian landline with its 0 isn't the right choice for a personal account. Our +39 numbers are mobiles starting with 3.

Expect the code again later. WhatsApp asks for a new one on every phone change or reinstall, sent to the same Italian number; only accounts that already verified an email can use email for that step. Keeping the number active is what keeps the account recoverable.

Setting up WhatsApp with an Italian number

  1. 01Register with an email address, open Italy and choose one of the listed +39 numbers; the digits masked as XX are revealed at activation.
  2. 02Pay with USDT or USDC; the full Italian number appears once the payment is matched on-chain.
  3. 03In WhatsApp tap “Agree and continue”, select Italy and type the number beginning with 3, for example 347 123 4567.
  4. 04Check the number on screen, then open the dashboard inbox for the six-digit text.
  5. 05If the countdown ends without an SMS, tap “Call me” and listen for the code.
  6. 06Add a password and a recovery email in Settings > Account > Two-step verification.
06

Italian format pitfalls

  • Some Italian mobiles have nine digits rather than ten. Both are valid, so copy the number exactly as your dashboard shows it.
  • Forms that insist on a leading 0 break Italian mobiles; forms that strip one break Italian landlines.
  • 0039 is the international prefix written out; in a WhatsApp field that already has +39 it doubles the code.
  • Check the current local time in Italy before calling, and remember that small businesses keep their own opening hours, so a message may wait until they reopen.
  • A phone number alone doesn't unlock SPID or other identity-based public services in Italy.
07

Free inbox vs one-time code vs an Italian number you keep

Free Italian numbers on public SMS pages let anyone read every message, including your WhatsApp code. WhatsApp's rules only let you register a number you own, and even when one works, the account is exposed to the next visitor who requests a code.

A single-use code costs less and suits a one-off sign-up you'll abandon. For WhatsApp that rarely holds: your next phone or a reinstall needs a code on the same +39 number. A number you keep is the one that will still be yours when that day comes.

08

Code not arriving on your Italian number?

  • Check for a stray 0 or a doubled 39; WhatsApp should show +39 followed by the 3XX number.
  • Wait for the timer; WhatsApp says the text can take up to 10 minutes.
  • Then tap “Call me”, since incoming calls reach the dashboard without limit.
  • After too many wrong entries WhatsApp shows “You have guessed the code too many times.” and makes you wait; there's no shortcut.
  • Still stuck? Work through our verification-code-not-received guide, or open a ticket.

Why it works with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram & Google

Apps check more than the digits: they look up the line type, the country format and whether the number can actually receive their code. Every SMSCreation number is a real mobile number in its country's official format — not a VoIP line — so it passes those checks the same way a SIM in your pocket does.

And we stand behind it with a 7-day replacement guarantee: if your number doesn't work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, Google or any app you need, we replace it free with a new number in the same country — or refund 100% if you prefer.

  • Non-VoIP, real mobile line type — line-type checks see an ordinary SIM number, not a VoIP line
  • Official country format with the right country code, prefix and digit count
  • Unlimited incoming SMS and calls — codes arrive by text or through the “call me” option
  • Private to you — never listed on public SMS sites, so it isn't flagged or rate-limited
  • Yours for as long as you want — re-verification and account recovery keep working

Price, keeping the +39 number and the 7-day guarantee

An Italian number costs from $1.80 a month on the yearly plan, $21.60 billed yearly. You get unlimited incoming texts and calls, along with 500 outgoing SMS and 1,000 outgoing minutes every month, and the +39 number stays yours as long as auto-renew keeps it active.

If WhatsApp rejects the Italian number within 7 days of activation, you'll receive a replacement +39 number free, or a full refund. Numbers with no calls or texts yet are refundable within 7 days, no questions.

Questions

Can I get a free Italian number for WhatsApp?

Free +39 numbers on public sites are shared, so the code is visible to everyone, and WhatsApp only lets you register a number you own. For an account you'll use, a private Italian mobile you keep is the dependable choice.

Do Italian mobile numbers start with 0 or 3?

With 3. Italian mobiles have no 0; it's landlines that keep a 0 after +39. In WhatsApp, type +39 and the number starting with 3.

Do I need a codice fiscale to get an Italian number for WhatsApp?

Not with us. Our +39 numbers are activated online with an email only, with no ID or tax code at any step.

Can I use an Italian WhatsApp number from outside Italy?

Yes. The code is sent to the +39 number and you read it in the web dashboard, so it works from any country.

Can I use the Italian number for SPID too?

Not on its own. SPID requires a valid Italian identity document plus a codice fiscale or health card, and an identity check; the number covers WhatsApp, calls and app SMS codes.

How do I switch my WhatsApp to the Italian number?

Use Settings > Account > Change number on your primary phone and enter both numbers with their country codes. Back up again afterwards, because backups made under the old number won't restore.

Will the number work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram and Google?

Yes — guaranteed. It's a real mobile number with unlimited incoming SMS and calls, so verification codes arrive by SMS or voice call. If it doesn't work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, Google or any app you need, we replace it free within 7 days — or refund 100%.
