A Canadian phone number for Instagram

A Montreal boutique, a Vancouver photographer or a Toronto agency running client profiles often wants each Instagram account tied to a Canadian number rather than a staff member's phone. Because Canada shares +1 with the United States, the area code is what marks the number as Canadian, and SMSCreation's Canadian numbers carry one.

The number is a real mobile line reserved for you, and Instagram's texts appear in a private browser inbox. This page shows how to enter it without Instagram filing it under the wrong country, how confirmation and two-factor work, the steps and the limits.

01

Why a Canadian number for Instagram

Many Canadian services accept only Canadian numbers and check the area code to enforce it. Instagram doesn't restrict you that way, but businesses and creators who want everything about a Canadian brand to be consistent give its account a Canadian number too, especially when the same number also verifies other local services linked to the brand.

The bigger reason is security ownership. The confirmed number is what receives password-reset and login codes, so if it sits on an employee's personal phone, the business depends on that person. A number bought for the account itself avoids that, and Instagram keeps it private from followers either way.

02

Entering a Canadian number in Instagram

In Instagram's country list choose Canada (+1), then type ten digits: the area code, which belongs to a province, and the seven-digit number. There is no trunk 0 in the North American plan, so nothing needs to be dropped, but don't add a 1 before the area code either; eleven digits won't pass.

The trap specific to Canada is the selector. If it stays on United States (+1), the number is stored under the wrong country even though the digits are right. Pick Canada before you type. Overlays mean one city can have several area codes, so an unfamiliar one is normal.

How Instagram confirms and re-checks the number

When you add the number, Instagram texts a 6-digit code; entering it confirms the number. SMS two-factor authentication can only be switched on with a confirmed number, and the one you enter during two-factor setup becomes the confirmed number. After that, a code is sent whenever someone logs in from a device Instagram doesn't recognize.

The controls are in Accounts Center > Password and security > Two-factor authentication, or Meta Account settings on some profiles. You can pick text message or WhatsApp delivery there and collect backup codes. Keep the backup codes offline: they work when a text can't be delivered, and Instagram says that without the email, the phone or a linked Facebook account it has no way to give you access.

What to expect, honestly

  • An ID upload or video selfie request is an identity check only the account owner can complete.
  • Instagram may prompt you to re-confirm a number that was added but not confirmed, or one that hasn't been updated in a long time; one code clears it.
  • A Canadian number doesn't change your profile's language or other settings, whether you post in English or French.
  • If Instagram doesn't accept the number within 7 days of activation, you get a free replacement Canadian number.
07

Six time zones, one inbox

Canada runs from Pacific time to Newfoundland's half-hour offset, and much of Saskatchewan never changes its clocks. For Instagram codes none of that matters: a login check appears in your dashboard as soon as it is sent, whether you're in Halifax, Calgary or abroad.

What matters is keeping the number. Leave it on auto-renew and it remains the account's confirmed number for as long as you need it.

08

Why it works with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram & Google

Apps check more than the digits: they look up the line type, the country format and whether the number can actually receive their code. Every SMSCreation number is a real mobile number in its country's official format — not a VoIP line — so it passes those checks the same way a SIM in your pocket does.

And we stand behind it with a 7-day replacement guarantee: if your number doesn't work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, Google or any app you need, we replace it free with a new number in the same country — or refund 100% if you prefer.

  • Non-VoIP, real mobile line type — line-type checks see an ordinary SIM number, not a VoIP line
  • Official country format with the right country code, prefix and digit count
  • Unlimited incoming SMS and calls — codes arrive by text or through the “call me” option
  • Private to you — never listed on public SMS sites, so it isn't flagged or rate-limited
  • Yours for as long as you want — re-verification and account recovery keep working

Price, keeping it and the 7-day guarantee

A Canadian number costs from $1.80 a month on the yearly plan, $21.60 billed yearly, the same as every other country. It includes unlimited incoming SMS and calls, 500 outgoing texts and 1,000 outgoing minutes each month. If Instagram doesn't accept it within 7 days of activation, we replace it with another Canadian number free or refund 100%, and a number not yet used for any call or SMS can be refunded within 7 days, no questions asked.

Questions

Instagram shows +1 already. Do I still need to choose Canada?

Yes. The US also uses +1, so pick Canada in the list to make sure the account records a Canadian number. Then type the ten digits.

Will my Canadian number be visible on my profile?

No. Instagram keeps the phone numbers on an account private; they're used for login, recovery and security alerts.

Can I switch my current Instagram to a Canadian number?

Yes. In Accounts Center > Password and security > Two-factor authentication, open your SMS method, choose to use a different phone number and confirm the Canadian one with the code.

Does the province of the area code matter to Instagram?

No. The area code depends on the number you choose from the list, and Instagram delivers codes the same way to any Canadian area code.

What if the code doesn't come through?

Give it a minute before requesting another. If you're logging in with two-factor on, use one of your saved backup codes.

Will the number work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram and Google?

Yes — guaranteed. It's a real mobile number with unlimited incoming SMS and calls, so verification codes arrive by SMS or voice call. If it doesn't work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, Google or any app you need, we replace it free within 7 days — or refund 100%.
