Portugal number for WhatsApp: a real +351 mobile that stays yours
Portugal attracts remote workers, retirees, students and Brazilian families, and almost all of them discover the same thing in the first week: the estate agent, the condominium administrator and the local café that takes orders all want a Portuguese WhatsApp. A +351 contact gets saved and answered; a foreign one gets a polite delay.
You don't need to wait for a NIF or queue at a phone shop in Lisbon or Porto to have one. A Portuguese mobile from SMSCreation is a genuine 9-series line, WhatsApp's code shows up in a browser inbox, and the account can be running before you sign a lease.
Who uses a Portuguese number on WhatsApp
Newcomers use a +351 WhatsApp to talk to landlords, lawyers and accountants while their residence paperwork is still in progress. Brazilians in Portugal often keep their +55 WhatsApp for family and add a Portuguese one for work, so clients see a local contact.
Small businesses selling into Portugal, from tour operators in the Algarve to freelancers billing Lisbon agencies, give customers a +351 WhatsApp because that is the number type Portuguese buyers are used to messaging.
- Talk to Portuguese landlords and agencies from a local contact
- A second, Portugal-only WhatsApp beside a Brazilian or other foreign one
- No Portuguese SIM or tax number needed to receive the code
The +351 format WhatsApp expects
Portugal has a closed numbering plan with no trunk zero, so the nine digits people dial inside the country are exactly the digits you type after +351. Mobile numbers start with 9, commonly 91, 92, 93 or 96, and are usually grouped in threes: 912 345 678. Numbers beginning with 2 belong to fixed lines and are not mobiles.
- Country code
- +351
- Digits after +351
- nine, mobiles beginning with 9
- Dialled inside Portugal
- 912 345 678
- Typed into WhatsApp
- +351 912 345 678
- Nothing to drop
- no leading 0 exists; just avoid adding 00351 or a second 351
Pick your Portugal number
These Portugal numbers are listed right now (31 in total). Choose one on the country page; the hidden digits are assigned when your order is approved and the number is activated.
How WhatsApp treats a Portuguese mobile
WhatsApp proves you control the number with a six-digit code. It sends an SMS to the +351 line, and once its countdown ends it offers an automated voice call that reads the digits out. Its help center lists VoIP, toll-free, premium-rate and universal access numbers as unsupported, and accepts landlines only on the WhatsApp Business app, so the 9-series mobile range is what you want.
Portugal also matters later. A new phone, a factory reset or a reinstall triggers the same code to the same Portuguese number. Unless your account already has a verified email address for re-registration, losing the +351 line means losing WhatsApp access too.
Setting up WhatsApp on a Portuguese number
- 01Sign up at SMSCreation with only an email, open Portugal and choose a +351 9XX number; its masked XX digits appear on activation.
- 02Send USDT or USDC for the exact amount shown, on the network you picked; the full Portuguese number appears once the payment is matched.
- 03In WhatsApp tap “Agree and continue”, set the country to Portugal and enter the nine digits, such as 912 345 678.
- 04Check the digits on screen before you request the code.
- 05Open your dashboard inbox for the six-digit SMS; if it hasn't arrived when the timer runs out, use “Call me” and take the call in the dashboard.
- 06Protect the account at Settings > Account > Two-step verification with a password and an email.
Portuguese format traps
- Adding a zero because other European numbers have one: +351 0912 345 678 has ten digits and is rejected.
- Mixing up +351 and +55 in a phone that defaults to Brazil; WhatsApp then reads a Portuguese number as a Brazilian one.
- Pasting a number written with 00351 into the field after already choosing Portugal.
- Using a number beginning with 2 from a business card: that is a fixed line, not a mobile.
“Portugal number for WhatsApp free”: what you actually get
Free +351 numbers do appear on public SMS websites, but every visitor sees the same inbox. WhatsApp only lets you register a number you own, which a shared public number isn't, and if one works, the next person who requests a code there can take your chats.
Single-use code services are the cheaper choice for a throwaway sign-up, and that is honest advice. WhatsApp is not a throwaway sign-up, though: the next reinstall needs the code again, by which time a rented number belongs to someone else. A number you keep is what makes the account last.
No code on your +351 number?
- Confirm WhatsApp is showing +351 followed by nine digits starting with 9, nothing more.
- Wait out the full countdown, which WhatsApp says can be up to 10 minutes, then pick “Call me”.
- Avoid guessing; repeated wrong codes start a lockout WhatsApp cannot shorten.
- If a two-step verification screen appears on the new number, a former user probably set it, and WhatsApp's reset takes days; raise a ticket so we can replace the number under the guarantee.
- See “Verification code not received” for further fixes.
Why it works with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram & Google
Apps check more than the digits: they look up the line type, the country format and whether the number can actually receive their code. Every SMSCreation number is a real mobile number in its country's official format — not a VoIP line — so it passes those checks the same way a SIM in your pocket does.
And we stand behind it with a 7-day replacement guarantee: if your number doesn't work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, Google or any app you need, we replace it free with a new number in the same country — or refund 100% if you prefer.
- Non-VoIP, real mobile line type — line-type checks see an ordinary SIM number, not a VoIP line
- Official country format with the right country code, prefix and digit count
- Unlimited incoming SMS and calls — codes arrive by text or through the “call me” option
- Private to you — never listed on public SMS sites, so it isn't flagged or rate-limited
- Yours for as long as you want — re-verification and account recovery keep working
Price, keeping it and the 7-day guarantee
A Portuguese number is from $1.80 a month on the 12-month plan, billed as $21.60 a year. Incoming texts and calls have no limit, 500 SMS and 1,000 minutes out are included every month, and the +351 number stays yours while auto-renew pays for it.
Should WhatsApp reject it within 7 days of activation, you receive a replacement Portuguese number at no cost or a full refund, whichever you prefer. If you haven't used the number for any SMS or call, you can also get a no-questions refund that week.

Questions
Can I get a Portuguese number for WhatsApp without a NIF?
Yes. No tax number, residence card or ID is asked for. You sign up with an email, pay in stablecoins, and the +351 number is yours.
Does a Portugal number for WhatsApp need a leading 0?
No. Portuguese numbers have no trunk 0. Type +351 and then the nine digits, e.g. 912 345 678.
Can I use the number with MB WAY?
Not on its own. Payment and banking apps such as MB WAY set their own requirements, which can include a Portuguese bank account, card or ID, so check them first. The number is meant for WhatsApp, codes and calls.
I'm Brazilian and already use WhatsApp on +55. Can I add a Portuguese one?
Yes. You can keep the Brazilian account and run WhatsApp Business on the +351 number; WhatsApp only asks that each app uses its own number, so family and work stay apart.
Is the Portugal number on Lisbon time?
The number has no clock, but your Portuguese contacts do, so check the current local time where they are, on the mainland or the islands, before you call.
Will WhatsApp ask for the code again later?
Every time you move WhatsApp to a new phone or reinstall it, the code goes to the same +351 number, so keep it renewed.
Will the number work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram and Google?
Yes — guaranteed. It's a real mobile number with unlimited incoming SMS and calls, so verification codes arrive by SMS or voice call. If it doesn't work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, Google or any app you need, we replace it free within 7 days — or refund 100%.
