Test your own app's SMS verification on real mobile numbers

SMS verification is one of the flows teams test least well. Emulators and sandboxes don't send real messages, a developer's own phone only covers one country and one carrier, and bugs in phone-number handling often only show up for users abroad: a missing country code, a rejected leading zero, a code template that breaks in another language.

A handful of real mobile numbers in the countries you ship to lets your team walk through the real flow the way users do — type the number, receive the code, enter it — and see exactly what arrives.

This page explains what that workflow looks like, how to set it up, and its honest limits, starting with the most important one: there is no API, so this is for manual and exploratory testing.

01

The problem: SMS flows are hard to test for real

Your app's SMS verification touches many moving parts: number input and parsing, country selection, your SMS provider's routing, the code template, rate limits, resend timers and the recovery path months later. Unit tests and provider sandboxes check your code, but not what a real user in another country sees on a real mobile number.

Using personal phones for this doesn't scale well. Testers end up tied to one or two countries, their personal numbers pile up in test databases, and when someone leaves the team, their number leaves with them — along with any test accounts registered to it.

02

How real mobile numbers help QA

An SMSCreation number is a real mobile number in its country's official mobile format, so it goes through the same path as your users' numbers: your country picker, your parser, your provider's route to that country, and the message text exactly as delivered. Incoming SMS appear in a web dashboard that any tester you share access with can open.

Because the number stays yours while renewed, it also works for long-lived test accounts. You can come back weeks later to test re-verification, a new-device login or account recovery on the same test user.

  • Check number parsing: with and without the country code, with a leading zero, with spaces
  • See the exact code message as delivered, including sender name and localized text
  • Test resend timers, expired codes and rate-limit messages with unlimited incoming SMS
  • Test voice-call code delivery with unlimited incoming calls
  • Use 500 outgoing SMS and 1,000 outgoing minutes a month to test inbound flows, such as reply keywords or a support line
03

No API today: what that means in practice

SMSCreation has no API today. Numbers are ordered and managed in the web dashboard, and codes are read there by a person. That makes it a good fit for manual QA, exploratory testing, release checks and reproducing a user's bug report in their country — and a poor fit for automated end-to-end suites that need to fetch codes programmatically.

If your CI pipeline needs codes without a human, use your SMS provider's test tools or a test-mode bypass in your own backend for automated runs, and keep real numbers for the manual checks that sandboxes can't cover.

Recommended setup

Start with the countries that matter most to your product: your largest markets, plus one or two with number formats your team finds tricky. A common starting set is your home market, the United States (+1 with ten-digit national numbers) and a country whose mobile numbers are dialed with a leading zero domestically, such as the United Kingdom.

Test accounts and release cycles span months, so the yearly plan at $1.80 a month ($21.60 billed yearly) keeps each test number stable. The price is the same in all 181 countries.

  1. 01Sign up with a shared team email so the numbers belong to the team, not one person.
  2. 02Order one number per target country and pay in USDT or USDC.
  3. 03Record each number against its test account in your test plan or test-data sheet.
  4. 04Run the flow in your app, then read the code in the dashboard's SMS inbox.
  5. 05Keep the numbers renewed so later recovery and re-verification tests still work.
05

What to watch out for

These numbers are for testing your own app with your own test accounts. SMSCreation's acceptable use policy prohibits bulk account creation, fraud and spam — so don't use numbers to create accounts on third-party services, to load-test someone else's SMS system or to send test traffic to people who didn't ask for it.

If your app integrates with third-party sign-ins or messaging platforms, their own policies apply to any test accounts you create there. And remember that a small, stable set of numbers can't represent every carrier your users are on; treat it as a realistic sample, not full coverage.

06

A hypothetical example

This scenario is fictional and only illustrates the workflow. Imagine a small team building a food-delivery app launching in Brazil and Mexico. Their automated tests use a backend bypass for codes, but a beta user in Brazil reports that verification fails when she types her number with a leading zero.

The team orders a Brazilian and a Mexican real mobile number, creates a test account for each and reproduces the bug in minutes: their parser rejects the leading zero. After the fix, a tester re-runs sign-up, resend and recovery on both numbers, reading every code in the dashboard, before the release goes out.

Why it works with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram & Google

Apps check more than the digits: they look up the line type, the country format and whether the number can actually receive their code. Every SMSCreation number is a real mobile number in its country's official format — not a VoIP line — so it passes those checks the same way a SIM in your pocket does.

And we stand behind it with a 7-day replacement guarantee: if your number doesn't work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, Google or any app you need, we replace it free with a new number in the same country — or refund 100% if you prefer.

  • Non-VoIP, real mobile line type — line-type checks see an ordinary SIM number, not a VoIP line
  • Official country format with the right country code, prefix and digit count
  • Unlimited incoming SMS and calls — codes arrive by text or through the “call me” option
  • Private to you — never listed on public SMS sites, so it isn't flagged or rate-limited
  • Yours for as long as you want — re-verification and account recovery keep working
08

Price, keeping the numbers and the 7-day guarantee

The yearly plan is $1.80 a month ($21.60 billed yearly), the same in every country, with email-only sign-up and crypto payment. Each number stays yours while renewed. If a number doesn't work with an app you need, you get a free replacement in the same country within 7 days of activation or a 100% refund, and a no-questions-asked refund within 7 days if it hasn't been used for any call or SMS.

Questions

Is there an API to fetch codes?

No. SMSCreation has no API today. Codes are read in the web dashboard, so it suits manual and exploratory testing, not automated suites.

Can several testers read the same inbox?

Yes, anyone with access to the team's dashboard login can read the SMS inbox. Use a shared team email for the account.

Which countries should we start with?

Your biggest markets, plus a country with a tricky format, such as one that uses a leading zero domestically. Every country costs the same.

Can we test voice-call verification?

Yes. Incoming calls are unlimited, so you can test flows that read a code out by phone.

Can we use the numbers to test other companies' apps?

Only with your own legitimate test accounts where their terms allow it. Bulk account creation and load-testing someone else's systems break our acceptable use policy.

Will one number per country cover every carrier?

No. Each number is on one network, so treat your set as a realistic sample and keep your provider's delivery reports for wider coverage.

Will the number work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram and Google?

Yes — guaranteed. It's a real mobile number with unlimited incoming SMS and calls, so verification codes arrive by SMS or voice call. If it doesn't work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, Google or any app you need, we replace it free within 7 days — or refund 100%.
