How X (Twitter) verification works
X sends a verification code by SMS when you add a phone number to your account.
Because SMSCreation numbers are real mobile numbers, X (Twitter) treats them like any other phone: the code is delivered to your number and shows up in your dashboard inbox straight away.
Why it works with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram & Google
Apps check more than the digits: they look up the line type, the country format and whether the number can actually receive their code. Every SMSCreation number is a real mobile number in its country's official format — not a VoIP line — so it passes those checks the same way a SIM in your pocket does.
And we stand behind it with a 7-day replacement guarantee: if your number doesn't work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, Google or any app you need, we replace it free with a new number in the same country — or refund 100% if you prefer.
- Non-VoIP, real mobile line type — line-type checks see an ordinary SIM number, not a VoIP line
- Official country format with the right country code, prefix and digit count
- Unlimited incoming SMS and calls — codes arrive by text or through the “call me” option
- Private to you — never listed on public SMS sites, so it isn't flagged or rate-limited
- Yours for as long as you want — re-verification and account recovery keep working
X (Twitter) verification details
X sends an SMS with a verification code when you add a phone number under Settings and privacy > Account > Phone Number. X notes that in some situations you can ask for a voice call instead. A confirmed number lets you turn on security features like login verification, makes account recovery easier, and, if you allow it, lets contacts find you. X allows the same phone number on up to 10 accounts, so one SMSCreation number can serve several brand or project accounts.
One important limit: since March 20, 2023, X supports text-message two-factor authentication only for X Premium subscribers, and availability may vary by country and carrier. On a free account you can still add and verify the number, but the second login step uses an authentication app or a security key. Whichever method you pick, save the backup code X shows during setup. It's how you get back in if you lose your phone or change your number.

Common X problems and fixes
- The code doesn't arrive: X says SMS can be delayed, so wait at least two minutes before trying again. X has also noted that some users have trouble getting verification codes by SMS. See our guide "Verification code not received".
- Codes blocked by a filter: X suggests unblocking SMS from its 40404 short code if you ever blocked it, then requesting a new code.
- Text-message 2FA is missing: SMS two-factor is limited to Premium subscribers. On a free account, use an authentication app or a security key and keep the number for account recovery.
- Lost phone with 2FA on: log in with the backup code you saved during setup. Backup codes must be active and used in order, or X shows an error.
Why X sometimes detaches a number: the 45-day reclaim rule
X sends a “phone number has been reclaimed” notice when it sees signals that the number on your account may belong to someone else. To protect the account it detaches the number and tells you. X says this can happen when an account has been inactive for 45 days or more and the same number is added to a new account whose owner can verify it.
Two habits avoid that. Sign in to X at least occasionally, and keep paying for the number so it never goes back into circulation. If X ever detaches it, add it again under Settings and privacy → Account → Phone Number. X sends a fresh SMS code the moment you add a number.
Number rules on X that surprise people
- One account, one number: X has no option to attach two or more phone numbers to the same account, even on a dual-SIM phone.
- Shared numbers still get the texts: every account (up to 10) that uses the number receives SMS for password resets and login verification.
- If X says the number is already linked to another account, X calls that outdated information and says the previous owner has no access to your account.
- Lost the phone? On x.com from a computer, open Apps settings and revoke access for apps connected through the old device.
- Changing numbers: delete the old one in mobile settings, add the new one, then enter the SMS code X sends immediately.

Questions
Does an SMSCreation number work with X (Twitter)?
In most cases, yes: our numbers are real mobile numbers, so X (Twitter) can send its code to them by SMS — and by call where X (Twitter) offers it. X (Twitter)'s own sign-up rules still apply, so check the verification details on this page before you buy.
Which country should I choose for X (Twitter)?
Any country works. Pick the country where you want your contacts to see a local number, or where the service you're joining expects one.
Will the number work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram and Google?
Yes — guaranteed. It's a real mobile number with unlimited incoming SMS and calls, so verification codes arrive by SMS or voice call. If it doesn't work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, Google or any app you need, we replace it free within 7 days — or refund 100%.
Can I keep using the same number for X (Twitter)?
Yes. The number is yours for as long as you keep it renewed, so you can receive codes again for new devices or account recovery.
What if I don't need the number after all?
You're covered by our 7-day replacement guarantee — if the number doesn't work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram or Google, we replace it free or refund 100%; plus a no-questions-asked refund if you haven't used it for any call or SMS — request a refund within 7 days of activation.
How much does it cost?
From $1.80 a month on the yearly plan (billed yearly at $21.60/year). Every plan includes unlimited incoming SMS and calls, 500 outgoing SMS and 1,000 minutes.
Can one number be used on several X accounts?
Yes. X lets up to 10 accounts share one phone number. That makes a single SMSCreation number practical for a small group of brand, project or regional accounts that each need a confirmed number.
Will I get two-factor codes by SMS on X?
Only if you subscribe to X Premium, and even then availability depends on country and carrier. Free accounts should use an authentication app or security key for two-factor and keep the verified number for recovery.
Why did X remove the phone number from my account?
X detaches a number when signals suggest it now belongs to someone else, for example when your account has been inactive for 45 or more days and the number is verified on a new account. Re-add it from Settings and privacy → Account → Phone Number.
Can I attach two numbers to one X account?
No. X currently allows one phone number per account, so choose which number should receive password-reset and login texts.
If I use one number on several X accounts, which one gets the reset texts?
All of them. X says each account linked to the number still receives SMS messages for password resets and login verification.
