How Viber verification works
Viber activates with a phone number and a code sent by SMS or a verification call.
Because SMSCreation numbers are real mobile numbers, Viber treats them like any other phone: the code is delivered to your number and shows up in your dashboard inbox straight away.
Why it works with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram & Google
Apps check more than the digits: they look up the line type, the country format and whether the number can actually receive their code. Every SMSCreation number is a real mobile number in its country's official format — not a VoIP line — so it passes those checks the same way a SIM in your pocket does.
And we stand behind it with a 7-day replacement guarantee: if your number doesn't work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, Google or any app you need, we replace it free with a new number in the same country — or refund 100% if you prefer.
- Non-VoIP, real mobile line type — line-type checks see an ordinary SIM number, not a VoIP line
- Official country format with the right country code, prefix and digit count
- Unlimited incoming SMS and calls — codes arrive by text or through the “call me” option
- Private to you — never listed on public SMS sites, so it isn't flagged or rate-limited
- Yours for as long as you want — re-verification and account recovery keep working
Viber activation details
Viber activates with a six-digit code, but in most regions it first tries a Flash Call: an incoming call from a random number that you do not need to answer. The last four digits of the calling number are your activation code. If you activate on a phone that does not hold the number, open the incoming call in your dashboard's call history and enter those four digits. Otherwise the code comes by SMS, or you can tap Activate via call to hear it read out.
Viber limits activation: you get three attempts to enter the code, and after too many tries you must wait 24 hours. Internet-based (VoIP) numbers cannot be used. An “Activation failed” error means Viber has temporarily restricted the number, usually after spam-like activity, which can also happen with a recycled number that was flagged before. Once you are in, set a six-digit 2-step verification PIN with an email for resets. A wrong PIN five times while setting up a new phone blocks activation for five days.
- Code
- Six digits by SMS or call; Flash Call uses the last four digits of the calling number
- Attempts
- Three tries per code; wait 24 hours after the limit
- Numbers refused
- VoIP (internet-based) numbers
- Security setting to turn on
- More → Settings → Privacy → 2-step verification (six-digit PIN + email)
- Where to change the number
- More → Settings → Account → Change phone number
Common Viber problems and fixes
- “Number doesn't exist” or “Number is too short” → digits are missing or wrong → use the international format: country code, then the number without leading zeros.
- Activation code is incorrect → you may have typed the SMS code for a Flash Call or vice versa → for a Flash Call, enter the last four digits of the number that called; for an SMS, enter the six-digit code.
- “Activation failed” → Viber has temporarily restricted the number, often because a recycled number was flagged before → contact Viber support; with SMSCreation you can also request a replacement number within 7 days of activation.
- No code at all → check the number, then tap Activate via call; our guide “Verification code not received” covers the rest.
- Changing to a number that already has a Viber account → Viber overrides the other account and its purchases are lost → only switch to a number with no existing Viber account.
Moving Viber to a new number without losing chats
Viber changes numbers only on a phone, not on a tablet or desktop; the change then applies to all your linked devices. Go to More → Settings → Account → Change phone number → New phone number → Continue, select the country, and enter the number without leading 0s. The six-digit code arrives by SMS or call. If you set a 2-step PIN, Viber asks for it at each step. If you're switching phones too, choose New phone number and new device, back up first, then restore on the new phone using the new number. Chat history doesn't transfer between Android and iOS.
People who saved your old number see a banner in your existing chat with a Save option for the new one, though contacts you blocked aren't notified. Viber Out plans and sticker packs don't follow automatically: restore them under Settings → Account → Purchases.
Region and SIM quirks Viber mentions
- Some Viber features exist only in certain regions, so a number registered to a different country can make the app look different.
- When you insert a new SIM, Viber offers Change to SIM number. Keeping the old number works until a reinstall or deactivation; after that, the activation code only reaches the old number.
- On dual-SIM phones Viber warns not to tap Change to SIM number, because the two accounts would override each other.
- Before changing, make sure the new number can already receive an SMS or call for the code.

Questions
Does an SMSCreation number work with Viber?
In most cases, yes: our numbers are real mobile numbers, so Viber can send its code to them by SMS — and by call where Viber offers it. Viber's own sign-up rules still apply, so check the verification details on this page before you buy.
Which country should I choose for Viber?
Any country works. Pick the country where you want your contacts to see a local number, or where the service you're joining expects one.
Will the number work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram and Google?
Yes — guaranteed. It's a real mobile number with unlimited incoming SMS and calls, so verification codes arrive by SMS or voice call. If it doesn't work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, Google or any app you need, we replace it free within 7 days — or refund 100%.
Can I keep using the same number for Viber?
Yes. The number is yours for as long as you keep it renewed, so you can receive codes again for new devices or account recovery.
What if I don't need the number after all?
You're covered by our 7-day replacement guarantee — if the number doesn't work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram or Google, we replace it free or refund 100%; plus a no-questions-asked refund if you haven't used it for any call or SMS — request a refund within 7 days of activation.
How much does it cost?
From $1.80 a month on the yearly plan (billed yearly at $21.60/year). Every plan includes unlimited incoming SMS and calls, 500 outgoing SMS and 1,000 minutes.
Do I need to answer the Viber activation call?
Not for a Flash Call. Viber calls from a random number, and the last four digits of that number are the code. If you chose to receive the code by phone call instead, answer it and listen to the code. Both calls appear as incoming calls, which are unlimited on our numbers.
What happens to my chats if I change my Viber number?
Viber keeps your chats and settings when you change the number in Settings → Account → Change phone number, and contacts who saved you see a banner with the new number. Viber Out and sticker purchases must be restored manually afterwards.
Can I activate Viber while abroad?
Yes, as long as the number can still receive the SMS or call. Viber notes that a SIM user abroad may need data roaming on; with our number the SMS and calls arrive in your web dashboard wherever you are.
Can I change my Viber number from Viber on my computer?
No. Viber says the number can't be changed on a tablet or desktop. Change it on your phone and the new number applies to your other devices.
Will my Viber contacts know I changed numbers?
Yes. Anyone who saved you as a contact gets a banner in your chat with the option to save the new number. Contacts you blocked are not notified.
Why does Viber look different after switching to a number from another country?
Viber says some features are only available in certain regions, so a number registered to a different country can change what the app shows.
