How Uber verification works
Uber confirms your phone number with a 4-digit SMS code, and drivers can call you through the app.
Because SMSCreation numbers are real mobile numbers, Uber treats them like any other phone: the code is delivered to your number and shows up in your dashboard inbox straight away.
Why it works with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram & Google
Apps check more than the digits: they look up the line type, the country format and whether the number can actually receive their code. Every SMSCreation number is a real mobile number in its country's official format — not a VoIP line — so it passes those checks the same way a SIM in your pocket does.
And we stand behind it with a 7-day replacement guarantee: if your number doesn't work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, Google or any app you need, we replace it free with a new number in the same country — or refund 100% if you prefer.
- Non-VoIP, real mobile line type — line-type checks see an ordinary SIM number, not a VoIP line
- Official country format with the right country code, prefix and digit count
- Unlimited incoming SMS and calls — codes arrive by text or through the “call me” option
- Private to you — never listed on public SMS sites, so it isn't flagged or rate-limited
- Yours for as long as you want — re-verification and account recovery keep working
Uber verification details
Uber needs a verified mobile number to create a rider account, and it sends the verification code by SMS. Uber says the text can take several minutes to arrive, and that carriers sometimes block the short code Uber uses. You can resend the code by retyping your number in the phone number field. Uber also warns that you may not get texts if you are traveling or have opted out of SMS from Uber; a number whose SMS arrive in a web dashboard avoids the roaming problem.
For extra security, turn on 2-step verification in account management → Security → 2-step verification. You can receive a 4-digit code by text or use a security app, which works offline and suits frequent travelers. Save the 8-digit backup codes Uber gives you. Even without 2-step verification, Uber may ask for a security check, for example before sending you a copy of your data or deleting your account.

Common Uber problems and fixes
- Verification SMS doesn't arrive → check the number and the country selected before it, resend the code, and allow several minutes → Uber notes carriers can block its short code. See our guide “Verification code not received”.
- 2-step code not arriving on a new device → on the code screen tap “I'm having trouble” → “Resend code via SMS”, or “Use 8-digit backup code”.
- Can't update your phone number → Uber has a dedicated support form for failed updates → submit the new number there and confirm from your email.
- Opted out of Uber texts → re-subscribe in Uber's communication preferences, then request the code again.
Rider number, driver number: what Uber actually does with it
On Uber the phone number is a working line, not just a sign-up hurdle. After a driver accepts your request, the two of you can message or call through the trip screen. Uber's rider privacy page says drivers never see your phone number, even when you call or text them from inside the Uber app, and they also never see your last name, your profile picture or the rating you leave them.
The driver side explains the plumbing. Uber's “Contacting your rider” article says the app anonymizes the driver's number and connects the call to the rider's number, so the cost is roughly that of calling a local line. The rider's number is anonymized as well, and those relay numbers change and can't be saved. In-app chat runs over data and is free, which Uber suggests drivers use to avoid international roaming charges.
So the number you register is the one a driver's relayed call actually rings. With an SMSCreation number, the incoming call lands in your browser dashboard and incoming calls are unlimited, which keeps your personal SIM out of every pickup conversation.
Changing the number on a driver or rider account
- Uber's driver help says you update your name, phone number, email, password or home address directly in the Uber app: menu (☰) → Account → choose the detail → enter the new value.
- A new phone number is confirmed with a verification code sent by text message; you type that code in the app before the change is saved.
- Uber states plainly that if verification fails, your update won't be saved, and that changes don't take effect until you confirm them.
- For drivers, a date of birth can't be edited in place: Uber asks you to re-upload your ID instead. A phone number can't stand in for that document step.
- Email changes (iOS only) send a code to the new address and a notice to the old one, so keep both reachable while you swap.
Verify Uber with your number in 4 steps
- 01Choose a country and pick a mobile number.
- 02Pay in crypto or from your wallet — from $1.80 a month on the yearly plan.
- 03Enter the number in Uber with its country code and request the code.
- 04Open your SMSCreation inbox, copy the code and you're verified.

Questions
Does an SMSCreation number work with Uber?
In most cases, yes: our numbers are real mobile numbers, so Uber can send its code to them by SMS — and by call where Uber offers it. Uber's own sign-up rules still apply, so check the verification details on this page before you buy.
Which country should I choose for Uber?
Any country works. Pick the country where you want your contacts to see a local number, or where the service you're joining expects one.
Will the number work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram and Google?
Yes — guaranteed. It's a real mobile number with unlimited incoming SMS and calls, so verification codes arrive by SMS or voice call. If it doesn't work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, Google or any app you need, we replace it free within 7 days — or refund 100%.
Can I keep using the same number for Uber?
Yes. The number is yours for as long as you keep it renewed, so you can receive codes again for new devices or account recovery.
What if I don't need the number after all?
You're covered by our 7-day replacement guarantee — if the number doesn't work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram or Google, we replace it free or refund 100%; plus a no-questions-asked refund if you haven't used it for any call or SMS — request a refund within 7 days of activation.
How much does it cost?
From $1.80 a month on the yearly plan (billed yearly at $21.60/year). Every plan includes unlimited incoming SMS and calls, 500 outgoing SMS and 1,000 minutes.
Can I use a local number for Uber while I travel?
Yes. Sign up or update your number in account management and confirm the SMS code. Uber warns that travelers may miss texts; with our number, SMS arrive in your web dashboard and incoming calls are unlimited, so codes and pickup calls still reach you abroad.
Does Uber 2-step verification require a phone number?
Not if you choose a security app, which generates codes without a phone number. The text-message option sends a 4-digit code to the number used to set it up, so keep that number active and save your 8-digit backup codes.
Will my Uber driver see the number I signed up with?
No. Uber says drivers never see a rider's phone number, even when the rider calls or texts through the app. Calls go through anonymized numbers that change and can't be saved.
How does an Uber driver's call reach me?
Uber's relay calls ring the phone number on your account like a normal call. Drivers are told that in-app messages travel over data, while calls cost about the same as calling a local number on their own plan. On our number, those incoming calls show up in your web dashboard.
Can I switch my Uber account to a new number later?
Yes. Go to Account in the Uber app, pick phone number, type the new one and enter the SMS code. If the code check fails, Uber discards the change, so make sure the new number can receive texts before you start.
