01

How Signal verification works

Signal registers with a phone number and sends a code by SMS, with a voice-call option.

Because SMSCreation numbers are real mobile numbers, Signal treats them like any other phone: the code is delivered to your number and shows up in your dashboard inbox straight away.

02

Why it works with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram & Google

Apps check more than the digits: they look up the line type, the country format and whether the number can actually receive their code. Every SMSCreation number is a real mobile number in its country's official format — not a VoIP line — so it passes those checks the same way a SIM in your pocket does.

And we stand behind it with a 7-day replacement guarantee: if your number doesn't work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, Google or any app you need, we replace it free with a new number in the same country — or refund 100% if you prefer.

  • Non-VoIP, real mobile line type — line-type checks see an ordinary SIM number, not a VoIP line
  • Official country format with the right country code, prefix and digit count
  • Unlimited incoming SMS and calls — codes arrive by text or through the “call me” option
  • Private to you — never listed on public SMS sites, so it isn't flagged or rate-limited
  • Yours for as long as you want — re-verification and account recovery keep working

Signal registration details

Signal is built around your phone number: the number must be able to receive an SMS or a phone call, and Signal sends a verification code during registration. If the SMS does not arrive, wait for the timer to finish and tap Call me to get the code by voice. Signal will never ask you for this code outside the app, so never share it with anyone who claims to be Signal support.

After registration, Signal asks you to create a Signal PIN. With Registration Lock turned on, anyone trying to register your number on another phone needs both the SMS code and your PIN. If you forget the PIN with Registration Lock enabled, you can be locked out for up to 7 days, and the lock only expires after 7 days of inactivity. Signal cannot reset your PIN. For a number you rent, the most important rule is to keep it: Change Number only works if you can still send messages from your old device and can receive an SMS on the new number.

Common Signal problems and fixes

  • The verification code doesn't arrive → Signal suggests checking the number, entering the full international number without leading zeroes, and making sure unknown senders are not blocked → wait for the timer and tap Call me; incoming calls to our numbers are unlimited. See also our guide “Verification code not received”.
  • Registered too many times → Signal rate-limits repeated attempts → wait an hour or a day before registering again instead of retrying immediately.
  • Asked for a PIN you don't remember → Registration Lock is on → without the PIN you must wait for the 7-day inactivity timer to expire; Signal cannot reset it.
  • Change Number fails → Signal doesn't support it if you lost or cleared your old device, or cannot receive SMS on the new number → keep the old device with a working Signal account until the switch is done, and make sure the new number can receive the SMS.
  • “Error 0” on iOS → Signal points to the same basic checks: latest version, VPN off or allowing *.signal.org, permissions enabled, and correct number.

Signal: the number is your identity

On Signal, contacts reach you through the registered number, and Registration Lock with your PIN guards it. Signal can't reset a forgotten PIN, and a lockout can last up to 7 days. Moving to a new number with Change Number needs the old device still able to send messages and the new number able to receive an SMS. A number you keep renewed avoids that switch entirely.

Keep it as long as you want

Signal may ask for your number again — on a new phone, after a reinstall or for account recovery. Keep your number renewed and it stays yours, so you can always receive the code.

Not what you needed? Our 7-day replacement guarantee — if the number doesn't work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram or Google, we replace it free or refund 100%; plus a no-questions-asked refund if you haven't used it for any call or SMS.

Questions

Does an SMSCreation number work with Signal?

In most cases, yes: our numbers are real mobile numbers, so Signal can send its code to them by SMS — and by call where Signal offers it. Signal's own sign-up rules still apply, so check the verification details on this page before you buy.

Which country should I choose for Signal?

Any country works. Pick the country where you want your contacts to see a local number, or where the service you're joining expects one.

Will the number work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram and Google?

Yes — guaranteed. It's a real mobile number with unlimited incoming SMS and calls, so verification codes arrive by SMS or voice call. If it doesn't work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, Google or any app you need, we replace it free within 7 days — or refund 100%.

Can I keep using the same number for Signal?

Yes. The number is yours for as long as you keep it renewed, so you can receive codes again for new devices or account recovery.

What if I don't need the number after all?

You're covered by our 7-day replacement guarantee — if the number doesn't work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram or Google, we replace it free or refund 100%; plus a no-questions-asked refund if you haven't used it for any call or SMS — request a refund within 7 days of activation.

How much does it cost?

From $1.80 a month on the yearly plan (billed yearly at $21.60/year). Every plan includes unlimited incoming SMS and calls, 500 outgoing SMS and 1,000 minutes.

Can I register Signal with a number that isn't my SIM?

Yes. Signal says your number only needs to receive an SMS or a phone call. Install Signal, enter the full international number, and read the code from your SMS inbox or answer the verification call in your dashboard. Then set a Signal PIN and enable Registration Lock.

What happens to my username if I change my Signal number?

Signal says a username you set up stays the same after Change Number. Contacts you have chatted with may see an alert that your number changed; saved contacts you never chatted with won't.

Can I re-register Signal without an SMS code?

Sometimes. On a new phone or reinstall, Signal can use a stored token plus your Signal PIN instead of the SMS code. If you skip that, you go through the normal SMS verification, so keep the number active.
