How Nintendo Account verification works
Nintendo texts a 6-digit code, valid for 10 minutes, to register a phone number, and uses it for SMS authentication such as password resets. Registration is limited to numbers from countries on Nintendo's list.
Because SMSCreation numbers are real mobile numbers, Nintendo Account treats them like any other phone: the code is delivered to your number and shows up in your dashboard inbox straight away.
Why it works with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram & Google
Apps check more than the digits: they look up the line type, the country format and whether the number can actually receive their code. Every SMSCreation number is a real mobile number in its country's official format — not a VoIP line — so it passes those checks the same way a SIM in your pocket does.
And we stand behind it with a 7-day replacement guarantee: if your number doesn't work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, Google or any app you need, we replace it free with a new number in the same country — or refund 100% if you prefer.
- Non-VoIP, real mobile line type — line-type checks see an ordinary SIM number, not a VoIP line
- Official country format with the right country code, prefix and digit count
- Unlimited incoming SMS and calls — codes arrive by text or through the “call me” option
- Private to you — never listed on public SMS sites, so it isn't flagged or rate-limited
- Yours for as long as you want — re-verification and account recovery keep working
Nintendo Account phone verification details
A Nintendo Account uses a phone number for SMS authentication, not for everyday sign-in. With a number registered, Nintendo can text you a code to prove it's you, for example when you've forgotten your password and need to reset it. Nintendo also says you must register a phone number to use GameChat on Nintendo Switch 2. To add one, sign in at accounts.nintendo.com and open Sign-in and security settings → Phone Number. Pick the country, enter the number without the country code and submit. Nintendo texts a 6-digit code that expires in 10 minutes. When it's accepted you'll see "Your phone number has been linked!"
There are firm limits. The number must receive text messages, so landlines can't be registered. Children's accounts can't register a number. Phone registration is only offered for numbers from the countries in Nintendo's list, and on Nintendo of America's page that list covers the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil and other Latin American countries. Nintendo's 2-Step Verification itself runs through Google Authenticator, not SMS.
- Code
- 6 digits by SMS; expires in 10 minutes
- What it's used for
- Identity checks such as password resets; required for GameChat on Nintendo Switch 2
- Numbers refused

- Where to add or change the number
- accounts.nintendo.com → Sign-in and security settings → Phone Number → Change Number
- 2-Step Verification
- Uses Google Authenticator, not SMS
Common Nintendo Account problems and fixes
- "Unable to link this number." → Nintendo can't register that number → re-enter it without the country code, spaces or dashes, and make sure it can receive text messages.
- Your country isn't in the dropdown → Nintendo won't register numbers from countries missing from its list → use a number from a listed country.
- The verification text never arrives → if the number is definitely right, Nintendo asks you to wait at least 12 hours before trying again. Our guide "Verification code not received" covers the phone side.
- An unexpected Nintendo verification text → Nintendo says someone may have typed your number by mistake while registering → ignore it, and never tap links in texts claiming to be from Nintendo.
Changing or deleting the number on a Nintendo Account
Both actions start at accounts.nintendo.com → Sign-in and security settings → Phone Number (on a computer, scroll to the Phone Number section and select Edit). Then choose Change Number or Delete Number. Before either goes through, Nintendo may ask you to prove it's you by re-entering your password, re-authenticating with a passkey or confirming an email code.
The phone number is itself a fallback for that check. If the verification email doesn't arrive, choose Use another method to verify your identity, and Nintendo texts a code to the registered number instead. With 2-step verification on, you may also be asked for a Google Authenticator code. If you can't reach the app, you can use a backup code, and if those are gone, Nintendo falls back to email.
Reading Nintendo's texts correctly
- A verification text you didn't expect is usually harmless: Nintendo says someone may have typed your number by mistake while registering their own account.
- Expected texts come during account actions such as a password reset, not at every Switch sign-in.
- Nintendo's country dropdown decides eligibility: if the number's country isn't listed, Nintendo says it can't be registered and to use a different number.
- After a change, the new number receives the 6-digit code; the old one stops getting Nintendo texts.

Questions
Does an SMSCreation number work with Nintendo Account?
In most cases, yes: our numbers are real mobile numbers, so Nintendo Account can send its code to them by SMS — and by call where Nintendo Account offers it. Nintendo Account's own sign-up rules still apply, so check the verification details on this page before you buy.
Which country should I choose for Nintendo Account?
Any country works. Pick the country where you want your contacts to see a local number, or where the service you're joining expects one.
Will the number work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram and Google?
Yes — guaranteed. It's a real mobile number with unlimited incoming SMS and calls, so verification codes arrive by SMS or voice call. If it doesn't work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, Google or any app you need, we replace it free within 7 days — or refund 100%.
Can I keep using the same number for Nintendo Account?
Yes. The number is yours for as long as you keep it renewed, so you can receive codes again for new devices or account recovery.
What if I don't need the number after all?
You're covered by our 7-day replacement guarantee — if the number doesn't work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram or Google, we replace it free or refund 100%; plus a no-questions-asked refund if you haven't used it for any call or SMS — request a refund within 7 days of activation.
How much does it cost?
From $1.80 a month on the yearly plan (billed yearly at $21.60/year). Every plan includes unlimited incoming SMS and calls, 500 outgoing SMS and 1,000 minutes.
Can I use this number for GameChat on Nintendo Switch 2?
Nintendo requires a registered phone number for GameChat, and this is a real mobile number that receives the 6-digit code. The number has to come from a country on Nintendo's list, and the account can't be a child account. Choose a number from a supported country before you order.
Does Nintendo send login codes by SMS?
No. Nintendo's 2-Step Verification uses Google Authenticator. The registered phone number is for SMS authentication, such as verifying your identity when you reset a forgotten password, and for features like GameChat.
I got a Nintendo verification text I didn't ask for. Should I worry?
Usually not. Nintendo says it is most likely someone entering your number by mistake while registering their own account. If you think your account was compromised, follow Nintendo's account recovery steps.
Can the phone number help if Nintendo's verification email never arrives?
Yes. On the email verification screen, choose Use another method to verify your identity, and Nintendo sends a code by text to the registered number.
