How KakaoTalk verification works
KakaoTalk verifies your phone number by SMS and accepts numbers from 230 country codes. Pick the country, then enter the number without the country code.
Because SMSCreation numbers are real mobile numbers, KakaoTalk treats them like any other phone: the code is delivered to your number and shows up in your dashboard inbox straight away.
Why it works with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram & Google
Apps check more than the digits: they look up the line type, the country format and whether the number can actually receive their code. Every SMSCreation number is a real mobile number in its country's official format — not a VoIP line — so it passes those checks the same way a SIM in your pocket does.
And we stand behind it with a 7-day replacement guarantee: if your number doesn't work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, Google or any app you need, we replace it free with a new number in the same country — or refund 100% if you prefer.
- Non-VoIP, real mobile line type — line-type checks see an ordinary SIM number, not a VoIP line
- Official country format with the right country code, prefix and digit count
- Unlimited incoming SMS and calls — codes arrive by text or through the “call me” option
- Private to you — never listed on public SMS sites, so it isn't flagged or rate-limited
- Yours for as long as you want — re-verification and account recovery keep working
KakaoTalk phone verification details
KakaoTalk ties every account to a phone number verified by SMS. Kakao says the service works with numbers from 230 officially registered country codes: you choose the country first, then type your own mobile number without the country code. Kakao notes that codes can be delayed in some countries or regions depending on the carrier, and asks you to contact support if nothing arrives within 24 hours.
On some screens the direction is reversed: instead of receiving a code, you scan a QR code and send a pre-written text from your phone without changing it. Our numbers include outgoing SMS, but Kakao itself says sending can fail when a provider doesn't allow overseas messages, so it can't be promised. Kakao also warns that repeated sign-up or verification attempts can restrict your use of the service. Your Kakao Account is what carries your friends and profile to a new number, so create one early.

Common KakaoTalk problems and fixes
- The code doesn't arrive → check the country and that you typed the number without the country code; delivery can lag with some carriers and regions. If 24 hours pass, Kakao asks you to contact it. See also our guide “Verification code not received”.
- “Failed to send the verification text” → KakaoTalk wanted you to send a message and it didn't go out → Kakao says to check whether your provider allows sending messages, including overseas.
- Blocked after many tries → Kakao can restrict accounts after repeated sign-up or verification attempts → stop retrying and contact Kakao support.
- Friends and chats gone after a number change → the number was changed without a Kakao Account → next time create one first and back up chats under More → Settings → Chats → Chat Backup.
- Asked for your old phone number while restoring → Kakao checks both numbers before restoring chats → if you can't provide the old one, Kakao treats you as a new user. Keep the old number until the move is done.
Kakao Account 2-step verification and the backup email
KakaoTalk's phone number and your Kakao Account login are separate layers. Kakao's 2-step verification, under Settings → Kakao Account → 2-Step Verification, asks for an extra check after your Kakao Account and password. You can verify through KakaoTalk itself or a contact phone number, and you can add a backup email for when the phone isn't available.
That email is the way out if the number changes. Kakao says that on the KakaoTalk or phone verification screen you select Verify via email at the bottom, log in that way, and then update the 2-step verification details with a valid phone number or KakaoTalk. Set the email up before you need it.
Checking which number Kakao has on file
- In KakaoTalk: My Profile → cogwheel at the upper right → Profile Management → Phone Number; edit it via Edit Phone Number at the bottom of the page.
- Or: More → Settings (gear) shows the registered number at the top, with a Change button.
- Kakao warns that an old number you no longer use exposes the account to hijacking, so keep the registered number current.
- Codes not coming? Kakao says texts may be blocked if the 1644 area code or the word “Kakao” is blocked on the phone; tap Re-send Code after a while.
- If a 2-step check goes to KakaoTalk, confirm that the account logged into KakaoTalk is the same Kakao Account you're signing in with.

Questions
Does an SMSCreation number work with KakaoTalk?
In most cases, yes: our numbers are real mobile numbers, so KakaoTalk can send its code to them by SMS — and by call where KakaoTalk offers it. KakaoTalk's own sign-up rules still apply, so check the verification details on this page before you buy.
Which country should I choose for KakaoTalk?
Any country works. Pick the country where you want your contacts to see a local number, or where the service you're joining expects one.
Will the number work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram and Google?
Yes — guaranteed. It's a real mobile number with unlimited incoming SMS and calls, so verification codes arrive by SMS or voice call. If it doesn't work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram, Google or any app you need, we replace it free within 7 days — or refund 100%.
Can I keep using the same number for KakaoTalk?
Yes. The number is yours for as long as you keep it renewed, so you can receive codes again for new devices or account recovery.
What if I don't need the number after all?
You're covered by our 7-day replacement guarantee — if the number doesn't work with WhatsApp, Facebook, Telegram or Google, we replace it free or refund 100%; plus a no-questions-asked refund if you haven't used it for any call or SMS — request a refund within 7 days of activation.
How much does it cost?
From $1.80 a month on the yearly plan (billed yearly at $21.60/year). Every plan includes unlimited incoming SMS and calls, 500 outgoing SMS and 1,000 minutes.
Does KakaoTalk only work with Korean numbers?
No. Kakao says KakaoTalk is available in 230 officially registered country codes. Pick your country, enter the number without the country code, and confirm the SMS code. Kakao notes delivery can be slower in some regions, but its help pages don't ask for a Korean number to register.
What do I need to move KakaoTalk to a new number later?
A Kakao Account and your old number. Back up chats, reinstall KakaoTalk, verify the new number, then log in with your Kakao Account and enter the old number. Kakao says that if you can't give the old number, you're treated as a new user and can't restore your data.
I changed numbers. How do I get past Kakao 2-step verification?
Use the backup email. Select Verify via email at the bottom of the verification screen, log in, then change the 2-step verification details to a valid phone number or KakaoTalk.
Where does KakaoTalk show my registered phone number?
Under More → Settings, at the top of the screen, or My Profile → cogwheel → Profile Management → Phone Number. Both let you change it.
