DeepSeek phone verification details

A DeepSeek account can use a phone number, an email address, Google or WeChat. DeepSeek's help centre describes verification codes arriving by SMS or email, and a "bound" phone number you manage under Settings → Account settings. Two sign-in routes have conditions. Google login isn't supported from IP addresses in Mainland China. WeChat login involves binding a phone number, and DeepSeek says that fails if the number is already bound to another WeChat account. Email sign-ups only work with supported domains.

The bound number matters most when you want to replace it. If the old number can still receive SMS, you update it yourself in Settings → Account settings. If it's out of service, you have to fill in the Account Rebinding/Unbinding Application form and prove you own the account. DeepSeek says most reviews finish within 3 business days and it emails the result. A number you keep avoids that wait. DeepSeek also blocks sign-ins it considers risky, with a "Current device environment error" when an IP address or phone number is flagged as high-risk.

Common DeepSeek verification problems and fixes

• No SMS code → DeepSeek says codes can be delayed. Check the number, make sure the phone is in service and has signal, and check SMS blocking and filter settings. If you requested too many codes, wait before trying again. A number recently moved to a new carrier can take 24 hours to work. Our guide "Verification code not received" covers the rest.
• "Current device environment error" → DeepSeek has flagged your IP address or phone number as high-risk and asks you to try a different environment. It doesn't publish what triggers the flag.
• WeChat login: binding the phone number fails → check whether the number is already bound to another WeChat account. If it isn't, exit and retry the binding.
• Your old number no longer works → you can't change it in settings without an SMS to the old number. Submit the Account Rebinding/Unbinding Application form and wait for the email with the result.
• "Login failed. Your email domain is currently not supported for registration" → sign up with a major provider such as Gmail, Outlook, Hotmail or Yahoo, or contact service@deepseek.com.
