Badoo verifies a phone number with a code by SMS, or with an automated call where you enter the last six digits of the calling number. It asks at sign-up, at phone-number login and in occasional security checks.

Badoo phone verification details

Badoo may ask you to verify a phone number when you create an account, when you log in with your phone number, or now and then as a routine security check. Verification links one unique number to your profile and shows Badoo you're a real person, not a bot or a fake account. Badoo has no separate account password: you sign in with a verification code or a linked account. If you log in by phone, the number you choose becomes the key to the account.

Badoo offers two ways to confirm a number. It can send a code by SMS, or place an automated call that you don't need to answer; you then type the last six digits of the number that called you. With an SMSCreation number, the SMS lands in your dashboard inbox, incoming calls are unlimited, and the caller's number shows in your call history. Badoo notes that VoIP or internet-based numbers may not support verification calls and suggests a standard mobile number instead. Ours are real mobile numbers.

Common Badoo problems and fixes

• The code doesn't work or has expired → codes are only valid for a short time, or you typed an older one → request a new code, use the most recent one right away, and type it rather than pasting it.
• “Number already in use” → the number is already connected to another Badoo account → log in with that number instead of creating a new account, or contact Badoo Support to recover the old one.
• Verification keeps failing → Badoo blames temporary carrier or server issues, or SMS blocked by a VPN or spam filter → turn off the VPN, wait a while and try again. Our guide “Verification code not received” covers the next checks.
• The verification call never comes → the call may be flagged as spam, or the number may be VoIP, which Badoo says may not support verification calls → request the SMS code instead. With a real mobile number the call also shows in your dashboard call history, so you can read the last six digits there.
• Someone phones you claiming to be Badoo → Badoo says it offers no phone support and only calls for automated verification → hang up, never share a code, and report it through the Help Hub.

Badoo's missed-call check, step by step

Badoo's second verification route is an automated call you don't answer. Badoo rings your number and asks you to type the last six digits of the number that called you. With an SMSCreation number, the incoming call is logged in your call history in the dashboard, so you read those six digits from the caller entry and type them into Badoo. If you'd rather have a text, Badoo can send an SMS code to the same number.

Because Badoo has no account password, the verified number is how you get back in when you log in by phone, and Badoo may re-check it at login or as a routine security step. One number belongs to one profile; trying a number that's already on another Badoo account returns “Number already in use”. To swap numbers on iOS go to Profile → pencil icon → Mobile number → Edit → Disconnect, then Add number. On Android it's under Profile → Verification. Badoo also offers a passkey after sign-up and when you log out, which gives you a second way in.
